The Opalescence teeth whitening system is formulated to be effective in whitening teeth without the need of a light source in the process. It is also an option between you and your dentist as to whether you will want to continue the whitening steps at home. Some will prefer to take a mouth guard home after the first whitening session to continue the treatments with a mouth guard and whitening gel. The Opalescence teeth whitening system does not require this step to be effective, so it is up to the discretion of the dentist and the patient.
Carrying on with a Home Whitening System
If you do decide to continue treatments at home, your dentist will make a mouth guard specifically crafted to fit over your teeth perfectly. The Opalescence teeth whitening gel is applied to the inside of the guard and worn for either a short time during the day or overnight depending on your preference and your dentist’s recommendation. In addition to a flavorless gel that is offered through the Opalescence teeth whitening system, you can also choose from melon or mint flavors to enhance the whitening experience.
